Design packaging that will meet customers’ requirements. Formulate and communicate ideas for new designs analyzing customer needs and production feasibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design packaging that will meet customers’ requirements
  • Formulate and communicate ideas for new designs analyzing customer needs and production feasibility
  • Make samples on CAD table or cut samples by hand.
  • Record keeping and filing of specifications.
  • Make production specifications from proto-type.
  • Work with the Sales force in order to best design packaging in a timely manner
  • Give technical advice to sales force, customer service, as well as, production
  • Work directly with production personnel to best maximize our current production capabilities in conjunction with current and future designs
  • Deal directly with Acme customers and working directly with their production personnel, as needed, to better utilize Acme’s products and initiate new designs that will keep us competitive
  • Deal directly with vendors to guarantee that dies are designed, not only for our specifications, but also designed to maximize our productivity on our machinery
  • Insure the design area is presentable at all times, as unscheduled, as well as, scheduled visitors will view this as a key area
  • Accompany Sales Representatives, as needed, to present new designs and ideas to customers
  • Assist Purchasing Manager to insure proper plate ordering and master print card
  • Knowledge of and comfort using Windows and Artios software
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintain good housekeeping
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Good communicator with customers and sales staff
  • Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
    • Work experience in a related field (corrugated, packaging, etc.)
    • Drafting education or experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carrying out instructions furnished in writing, oral or graphic form
  • Ability to deal effectively with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • This individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
    • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into an efficient operation
    • Product layouts and production specifications
    • Product quality specifications
    • Quality standards

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The performance of the employee will be measured as follows:

  • Operating standards
    • The employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.
