In the fast-paced packaging industry, safety is an essential part of creating a sustainable, productive workplace. Recently, Acme Corrugated Box had the pleasure of hosting Alex Warren, Safety Committee Chairperson from Tavo Packaging, for a day focused on sharing and learning best practices in workplace safety. This partnership exemplifies how Acme’s commitment to safety not only benefits our team but also extends outward, strengthening industry relationships and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

As Alex put it, “Spending the day with Tom at Acme and learning how Acme approaches safety was really eye-opening and informative. I am able to bring so much of what I learned back to Tavo. Acme’s safety program is top-notch, and I’m hoping we can someday get Tavo’s safety program to the same level.” It’s collaborations like these that empower teams to elevate each other and create safer workplaces across the industry.

How the Collaboration Came Together

The idea originated with John Marchant, a Packaging Consultant with Acme, who suggested that Alex and the safety team at Tavo connect with Tom Wertman, Acme’s Safety Manager, to gain insights as Tavo worked to establish their own safety protocols. As Tavo’s operations grow, they’re focused on creating a robust safety committee and enhancing their safety standards. Rather than a formal consultation, this was a friendly exchange of best practices—a benchmarking opportunity that underscored the mutual respect between our teams.

Tom’s experience and enthusiasm for workplace safety, combined with Tavo’s eagerness to learn and grow, made for an engaging and productive day. The discussions ranged from Acme’s rigorous safety audits to hands-on safety strategies that ensure every team member remains vigilant and protected. Tom shared valuable advice on building a safety-first culture, and Tavo’s team was inspired to bring these ideas back to their team.

The Value of Knowledge Sharing

This collaboration wasn’t just a one-time exchange but a meaningful way to strengthen ties between our companies. As Tom Wertman noted, these interactions don’t happen without recognizing opportunities to make a positive impact. Reflecting on his career, he expressed the satisfaction of being able to give back, saying, “When I first started my journey, I had plenty of seasoned people reach out and give me valuable help early on. It’s refreshing and fulfilling to give back at this stage. Doing things like this just strengthens the partnership between customer and vendor.”

Strengthening Partnerships Through Shared Values

Acme’s commitment to safety and quality continues to be one of the reasons why our partners enjoy working with us. It’s rewarding to see this value reflected in our partnerships, as it not only supports our customers but also contributes to a safer industry overall. With the success of this session, we’re looking forward to more opportunities to support our partners with their safety efforts.

This collaboration shows that safety isn’t just about compliance; it’s about community, mutual growth, and supporting one another. Acme is proud to be a resource and ally to Tavo Packaging as they enhance their safety program. We’re excited to see how they bring these insights to life inside their own operations.

This type of hands-on partnership reinforces Acme’s commitment to industry excellence and safety, not just within our walls but for everyone in the packaging industry. Here’s to building a safer future together!
